Fresh-roasted coffee beans, delivered in Kolkata.

Kolkata taught the rest of India how to sit with a cup and talk. The city has had its coffee houses for a century, and it still has its afternoons. I roast for those afternoons.

A bag ordered from Kolkata is roasted in my kitchen after the order comes in, rested for a day, and sent by courier. It usually arrives within the week.

Coffee for a Kolkata afternoon

For a slow cup with something to read, I suggest the light roast as a pour-over. The citrus and honey in it come through clearly in the softer water most of the city has. For a stronger cup that stands up to milk and sugar the way the city likes it, the dark roast in a moka pot or a South Indian filter is closer to what you may already know.

Tell me how you brew and I will grind for it, or choose whole beans and grind at home.

How the coffee reaches you

I buy green arabica from one small farm in the coffee hills of Karnataka, a few kilos at a time. I roast it at home on a small drum roaster, in batches of a few hundred grams, after my day job. I roast your bag after you order it, so it leaves within days of the roast and not months.

You choose light, medium, or dark, or you tell me the notes you like and I roast toward them. You can have whole beans, or tell me your brewer and I will grind for it. A 250 g bag is ₹750 and a 500 g bag is ₹1,200, with free shipping in India.

Who you are buying from

I am one person with a roaster in my kitchen. There is no team, no cafe, and no warehouse. When you write to me about a grinder or a shot that came out sour, I am the one who writes back, and I have made the same mistakes at my own counter.

Questions people ask

How long does delivery take?

I roast after you order, let the beans settle for a day, and hand the bag to the courier. Most cities in India receive it within a week of the order.

Is shipping really free?

Yes. Free shipping in India on every bag, 250 g or 500 g.

Which roast should I start with?

If you are unsure, start with the medium roast. It works in a moka pot, a French press, a pour-over, and an espresso machine, and it forgives a grind that is a little off.

The shop has the three roasts and the custom roast. If you are not sure, write to me at chanda.sayonsom@gmail.com and tell me how you brew.
